The role and what you’ll be getting up to on a day to day basis:
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys getting to the root of complex issues, guiding others and remaining clear-headed when the pressure is on. You’ll act as a subject matter expert and escalation point, helping to resolve complex or sensitive infrastructure incidents and supporting the introduction of new technologies and improved ways of working.
You could bring a broad Windows infrastructure background or deeper expertise in Linux. Whichever area you specialise in, you’ll combine strong technical knowledge with the confidence to lead investigations, support other engineers and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You will:
You’ll take ownership of complex technical work across our infrastructure environment, including:
Substantial experience supporting and maintaining Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
Active Directory, Group Policy and identity management.
Microsoft 365 administration and integration.
Azure and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.
Virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Nutanix and Hyper-V.
Storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Network fundamentals including routing, switching, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.
Security technologies and best practices including MFA, conditional access and endpoint protection.
Practical PowerShell experience and an understanding of automation opportunities
Monitoring, alerting and performance management tools.
Experience managing complex incidents, problems, changes and service requests within an IT service environment
The confidence to lead technical investigations during major incidents and support complex or high-risk changes
Strong communication skills, with the ability to guide other engineers and explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
